The Scurfpea Publishing 2012 Anthology

Be Published!

We will choose the best (as our editor sees them) 50-130 poems submitted to editor@scurfpeapublishing.com for this anthology. If we don’t get at least 50 poems the editor finds of high enough quality, the anthology will be canceled.  This will be a quality publication.  Previous anthologies can be found at scurfpeapublishing.com and at amazon.com.

 The Deal

            The book

Paperback, perfect bound, color cover, professional design and layout

Available through the authors, very limited local venues, amazon.com. (for 1 year minimum)

It will sell for around $15, depending on printing costs this fall.

The planned date of publication is the end of October 2012.

Title and cover art will be determined after the poems have been chosen.

The editor of the 2012 anthology is Suzanne Sunshower.  Check out her work at: http://www.suzannesunshower.com/

            Copyright issues

All copyrights of individual poems will remain with the authors, save for

permission to print submitted poems in the anthology and limited reprints of individual poems for publicity purposes.

The book will not be submitted for copyright or to the Library of Congress—the paperwork is too egregious for an anthology.

The book will be submitted to Poets House, a library of poetry in New

York City which attempts to offer all the poetry published in

the U.S.A.

            How you make money

No royalties will be paid from Amazon.com sales or other outlets—the

bookkeeping is beyond the ability of a small press.  If you have a

special situation, say an aunt in Guam who wants to buy it on

Amazon.com, contact Scurfpea Publishing first and we can work

out a way to share royalties after the recipient receives their copy of the bill.

The money you make will depend upon your ability to sell the book!

Books will be available to authors at $5 below retail. You can order as many as you want with no penalty for small orders—except for shipping and handling (naturally, the larger your order the smaller these expenses will be per book—these will be standard amounts with no hidden way for Scurfpea to make money) which will be through a third party.  Sell 30 books, you should make close to $140 (just a rough guess at the cost of shipping).  You may order as many times as you want as long as the book is available (at least a year).

No free authors' copies will be provided.  Scurfpea Publishing attempts to

make small run publication a possibility by taking as little profit as

possible and passing the savings on to the authors.  The $5 below list price represents a 25% - 33% discount.  So, instead of gouging authors on trivial royalties, we forgo the authors' copies in order

to provide the chance for authors' increased profit in the long run.
